Red Room Poetry Education Manager and poet Dr Tamryn Bennett ran a special workshop at ‘Love Your Lagoons’ Day, an event organised by the Office of Sustainability staff at UWS, held at the UWS Campbelltown Campus. The event was for primary and secondary students to learn about water conservation and wetlands education.
The students had the opportunity to participate in a range of workshops at the event. Along with science and environment based learning, the Office of Sustainability team were keen to incorporate creative activities into their environmental projects.
In Tamryn’s poetry collaborative workshop with WestWords, 14 students in Years 7 & 11, from Macarthur Anglican College, Mt Annan High School and Camden High School undertook a variety of writing exercises, including decorative kuhi (or haiku) stones that were placed around the lagoon.
