Tathra Wharf – Jess Elka

Tathra Wharf was built in the 1800s
And in 1914, the women and children said goodbye to the WW1 soldiers
It was as sad as a dog wimpering
The roar of the ships engine was like a lion
And the trotting of the horses came down fast
Through the zig zag of the yards and cattle troughs
War boys calm their horses to load onto the ship
Captain sounds the bell to get ready to leave
Family’s wave goodbye as the ship sails off
As sad as it is, it’s happy at the same time
“Don’t worry son, daddy is going to fight for our country and our people”.
