Beyond the drive-in – Saxby Pridmore

The drive-in is forgotten

by the generation it conceived

– never held its grandchildren

and was never mourned

for technology has no track

for tradition, and the consumer

is too drunk on change. Going

to the next phase, pay TV

and the information super highway

will close the corner video shop

and like hypochondriacs, we’ll fake malfunctions

for human contact with the service man.
