Alpensee – Joy Reid

Sequin-sun on water –
wavelets shoal-leaping, darting,
performing spooked sequences
and on lipped shore –
eye-aching azure of orchid clawing ghostly clay
while bonsai rubicunds cheerily Mexican wave,
and snapdragons shout in unbashful daffodil, oh,
trumpeters, too, long-snouted, passionfruit-hued
that small, bright-fletched birds, trip and trill
amongst in triumphal riff – oh,
I am
from frozen, red fingertips to wet-parted lips,
inhaling luminous bog, corrugating sun-flecked lids,
tilting up brightened cheeks – kiss me…
kiss me, quick.
