Acland – Craig Lincoln

On the Darling Downs of Queensland
Where Koala’s have their abode
Lies the vanishing town of Acland
On the Jondaryan Muldu Road
Acland was born in 1912
It’s story had begun
The nearby coal they came to delve
Not knowing how far it would run
In 84 the mine closed it’s door
For sale signs began to rise
Like many towns before
Acland began it’s swift demise
In 99 a new hope rose
A saviour for the mine
Acland however  sat to close
Now she will be  the mine
Born of the mine that would be it’s end
Swallowed  by corporate greed
Acland’s time on the downs will end
A  memory planted like a seed
