The Disappearing is a project that (literally) maps poetry to place. As an ongoing project, The Disappearing uncovers poetry’s invisible currents in the world around us. Using geo-location to map poetry to place, the project charts fragmentary histories, impressions and memories, encouraging readers to interact in a non-linear way. Not only is The Disappearing a pocket-sized library of poems about places, the site is also an alternative travel guide that preserves and shares experiences, emotions and ideas that vanish over time.
In The Disappearing, you will find over 160 poets commissioned, over 140 user submissions and over 30 school engagements – each contribution drawing together the rich disappearing histories scattered across Australia.
We invite you to read, explore, experience these fragments, along with submitting your own.
Red Room Poetry would like to thank each of the poets, our financial supporters and project partners for their support and generously engaging in this journey with us.
